LED's provide the most energy savings, about 75% to 80% Energy Savings!

The light emitting diode (LED) are a type of solid-state lighting -- semiconductors that convert electricity into light. Although once known mainly for indicator and traffic lights, LED's in white light, general illumination applications are one of today's most energy efficient and rapidly-developing technologies. ENERGY STAR qualified LED's use only 20%-25% of the energy and last 25 times longer than the traditional incandescent bulbs they replace.

While LED's are the most expensive option, the prices are continuing to fall rapidly. With the energy savings and the longevity of the bulb, there can be significant savings realized.

  • They last up to thirty-five times longer than incandescent lights and often four or more times longer than fluorescent lights.
  • They produce more light per watt than incandescent bulbs.
  • The LED bulbs light up instantly and many are dimmable.
  • They waste little energy because most of the light may be directed where it is needed.
  • LED bulbs do not contain mercury.
  • The generate almost no heat, which can help reduce air conditioning costs.
